Remote Sensing Application System

The Research and Development (R&D) programme of MRSA is formulated to support user agencies in the management of agriculture production, natural resources, environment, disaster, security and land development. The programme also carries out the cabinet directives on the use of remote sensing technology to support implementing agencies in the planning, development and management of national resources. The success of this programme is achieved through active participation by government agencies, institutes of higher learning and private sectors.

Collaboration Agencies :

Department of Fisheries (DOF), Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM) and the National Fishermen's Association (NEKMAT).

Users :

Fishermen registered with the Local Fishermen's Association all over the country

Method for Distribution of information :

SMS and portal FSI

The FSI System utilises the sea surface temperature and chlorophyll information obtained from the satellite data in order to identify highly potential fishing sites. Information on the fishing site (in coordinate) is distributed daily to the fisherman. Through this highly precised fishing site identification, the fisherman can immediately go to the potential fishing sites without any delay.

Achievement :

Anugerah Inovasi Teknologi Maklumat & Komunikasi (AIICT) pada Majlis Anugerah Inovasi Sektor Awam 2014.
